Last fall, Haiti Awake decided to sponsor my studies to Séminaire de Théologie Evangélique de Port-au-Prince (STEP). Since I have been raised in church, I wanted to learn more about the Bible and be able to teach the word of God to others in a way that is so simple that they can understand it and believe and make due decisions according to the knowledge acquired.
I am on the second session of the first year. The school is very demanding. There is a lot of reading, tests, and assignments. A very big part of my time is now dedicated to that. It’s not easy, neither comfortable. I have class Monday to Friday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM. The professors are always on time and faithful to their schedule of teaching. They care for the students and are available to help with the classes.
Despite the recent situation, where many classmates, other students and professors have to leave their home because of gang incursion in their neighborhood and their houses, we continue to have class. The professors keep on teaching, and students keep finding a way to come to class.
We pray to God for a better atmosphere in the country where we can study peacefully, professors and students can get back to their respective homes, and the seminary could recuperate its campus.
