Glimpses of Haiti - Part 4
by Steeve Derard
Sometimes, riding on a motorcycle is not fun.
The 2021 earthquake that hit the south of Haiti in August paralyzed completely many activities in these remote areas, especially the transportation, for a long time.
No tap-taps, no buses, no containers were able to use the roads as usual because the roads were broken and blocked with mud and rubbish.
For several months the only options we had was taking a motorcycle to go to places.
That lady on the back of a motorcycle is holding her bag on her back, and she has different plants in another bag while also holding a broom. She is going back to a remote place from the main city of Les Cayes. She could be riding for 4 or 5 hours on motorcycle like this.
It is not fun at all, but people were happy for the fact this option became available for them.
