In 2015, God put it in our hearts to pursue an outreach opportunity at CERMICOL. The obstacles were quite large, as they should be. Gaining access to a prison should not be an easy thing to do. But God made a way, and now we are there at CERMICOL on a regular basis for both ESL classes and church services.
Through the years we’ve developed a close relationship with those in authority at CERMICOL. We’ve come to respect and appreciate them, and when I am there, I can see they feel the same way about the staff of Haiti Awake.
Friday, April 1, was a special day for everyone as Haiti Awake provided 82 mattresses to the prisoners - one for each young man incarcerated. We were able to do this because of the incredible generosity of friends who saw a need and were moved with compassion to fill it.
First stop, MOD to purchase the mattresses.
The staff of Haiti Awake pulled together to load the mattresses into our tap taps. This was no small job.
Multiple trips to CERMICOL had to be made. 82 mattresses take up a great deal of space!

Through the years, we have seen God do things and provide in ways we ourselves would have never imagined.
Yesterday was one of those days.
