Each month during 2020, we have chosen a Person of the Month at Haiti Awake based on popular vote.
We ask people why they are voting for a person, as well as for whom they are voting. This month’s Person of the Month is Idelmy.
Here are some things both staff and other children said about him when they voted:
He doesn’t wait for others to tell him what to do, but he takes responsibility. He is always encouraging me.
He always tells me to do what I am asked to do in order to help myself in the future. He is a generous person and likes to help.
He always wants to do good things without complaining. He works hard. He doesn't need people for help to do so, and he likes to take initiative for the well-being of everyone at Kay Timoun.
He works hard and helps the other children. Even if I am not home, if everyone gets something special, he saves some for me and shares with me.
We are all so proud of Idelmy and thrilled to recognize him as our Person of the Month.
Further, our hearts were warmed by these comments by vote-getters who did not win, but nonetheless made an impact in someone else’s life this month:
Migerlson got 3 votes. “Because he gives me good advice”, “He’s always awake early to do what he’s supposed to do,” and “He helps us keep our room organized.”
Fanour received a vote. “He likes sharing with me what he has.”
Stanley received a vote “because he usually is the one who helps me cross the street.”
Davensky received a vote “for his obedience and his willingness to learn.”
